Duties and Responsibilities 

The UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources (UCL-ISR) delivers world-leading research, teaching and enterprise in the sustainable use of global resources. UCL-ISR is a cross-disciplinary institute that aims to address some of the major challenges facing sustainable resource use today and in the future. We are seeking to appoint a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in macro-economic modelling of a Circular Economy for mineral-based construction materials. 

The successful candidate will undertake high-level modelling supporting the Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Centre for Mineral-based Construction Materials (ICEC-MCM). As part of the macro-economic modelling team, the successful candidate will also contribute to several multi-disciplinary research projects and will support the research, teaching and citizenship activities of UCL-ISR.

The post is available at 1 FTE (0.8 FTE will be considered) from 03 May 2022, for 22 months in the first instance, further funding to support the post may be available. This position is expected to be followed by a one-year placement with an industrial or policy partner, for practical implementation of the academic findings.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have a PhD, or close to completion, or commensurate experience in computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling, with a solid understanding and experience of the supply chain for mineral-based construction materials. 

The candidate should demonstrate proficiency on data analysis, data construction, programming and CGE modelling. The candidate should also be able to produce high-quality academic papers for publication in economic and multi-disciplinary journals.

The candidate should demonstrate, by track record peer-review publications, state-of-the-art knowledge of quantitative economic modelling using advanced CGE modelling tools. The candidate should have at least three years of practical experience in global, national, or regional CGE modelling development and database construction/extension.

A solid knowledge and practical experience of the supply chain for mineral-based construction materials is highly desirable.
