Dr Robin Hickman contributes to the debate on cycling proposals in Waltham Forest
31 July 2017
When in 2014, the London Borough of Waltham Forest was awarded £30 million to improve cycling facilities, nobody could have predicted how contentious this programme of change would be. At the official launch, community members carried a coffin through the high street to show how the proposed changes were killing their businesses and sense of belonging. This half hour video, produced by a community video workshop, gets behind the polarised attitudes of local people, for and against, and allows protagonists on all sides their say. It is a portrait of a community in the throes of transition.
