Crossrail Comes to Town

Professor Michael Hebbert of the University of Manchester delivered the 2012 Sir Peter Hall Annual Lecture on the evening of 26 June at UCL, in the presence of Professor Sir Peter Hall, Professor Malcolm Grant (Provost and President of UCL), Professor Alan Penn (the Dean of the Bartlett), Professor Nick Gallent (the Director of Planning) and over 100 academics, professionals, students and friends.

Professor Hebbert, a former PhD student of Peter's at Reading University, delivered a lecture entitled "Crossrail Comes to Town", a forensic examination of the design and impact of the Crossrail project on London now under construction.  Particular attention was paid to how the new Crossrail stations in Central London and Docklands were being designed and constructed, to fit in to the existing urban fabric.

Following the lecture, Professor Hebbert took questions and debated both Crossrail and London's past, present and future transport schemes, before dignitaries and guests retired to a wine reception in the College Cloisters.
