We’re delighted to announce two new appointments to The Bartlett’s leadership team. Sara Shafiei from the Bartlett School of Architecture (BSA) has been named as the new Vice-Dean Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, while Dr Barbara Lipietz from the Development Planning Unit (DPU) has been appointed to the role of Vice-Dean International.

Sara is an Associate Professor (Teaching) at the BSA, and Director of the new MSci Architecture Programme. Previously, she has taken on roles including Departmental Tutor, Admissions Tutor, Chair of Board of Examiners, and Chair of Architecture Programme Committee (APC1). Barbara is Associate Professor at the DPU, where she co-directs the MSc in Urban Development Planning and convenes their Research Cluster on Urban Transformations.

Christoph Lindner, Dean of The Bartlett, Faculty of the Built Environment said:

“We are all very excited to have both Sara and Barbara join The Bartlett's leadership team, especially at a time when we are all so focused on the challenges of navigating the faculty through an ever evolving, post-pandemic landscape.

"I have no doubt they will both provide strong leadership in their respective roles, and I know they are highly motivated to build on the hard work of so many in creating the inclusive, global faculty we aspire to be."

Taking up the role from 1 September 2021 for a minimum term of 3 years, Barbara will play a strategic role in developing the Faculty’s global engagement agenda. Sara will begin her position from 1 October 2021 for an initial term of 3 years.
