Construction continues at UCL Here East

29 June 2017

Work continues on our new space at UCL Here East as the project moves into its final weeks before opening this September.

Here East

Recent construction has seen the completion of a 250 seater auditorium structure and a number of laboratories that will be used by the Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering as well as the Institute for Sustainable Heritage.

The main Here East unit will focus on teaching, learning and research space. This includes an event/exhibition space and studio space while housing numerous chambers for research and a large-scale area for robotics for the School of Architecture

UCL Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) who are sharing the facilities with The Bartlett, along with UCL Computer Science, have also seen their test facilities completed, including the strong floor.

UCL is one of several neighbours at Here East which will also include London Loughborough, Plexal, Studio Wayne McGregor, BT Sport, and just announced, Ford, forming a technological hub focusing on innovation.

Work in the coming weeks will see wall and floor finishes as well as the installation of furniture and AV equipment in preparation for opening in the 2017/18 academic year.

From September, UCL Here East will also be home to the new Bartlett Real Estate Institute. The institute will rethink the traditional view of real estate, taking a multidisciplinary approach to identifying, researching and solving real-world problems.
