The Healthcare industry is striving to develop sustainable FM service improvements and innovations. Most NHS Trusts are focused on delivering core business operations and there is sometimes little time to devote to the development of support services and sustainable FM delivery and improvement.

The aim here is to deliver efficient sustainable FM management of services in a multiple contract environment with continuous improvemen . The UCL Sustainable FM Healthcare Programme (SUHP) involves UCL working with NHS and private sector partners to deliver various research projects targeting key areas for improvement.

Projects are delivered using different research platforms including EngD and PhD with the total project funding of £250,000 coming from the EPSRC EngD programme and the company/Trust partners UCLH, Barts and HCP.

The programme topics range from carbon visualisation improvement to developing new methods of service delivery as follows:

  1. Matching and managing demand, behaviour and expectation for carbon reduction
  2. BIM in Healthcare
  3. Improving Carbon Visualisation in the NHS
  4. Healthcare service improvement
