Dr Nici Zimmermann introduced System Dynamics modelling to over 550 seminar attendants
27 August 2021
Dr Nici Zimmermann, Associate Professor in System Dynamics, gave a seminar on the System Dynamics modelling process, using the example of love between Romeo and Juliet.
In the hands-on seminar, Dr Zimmermann led her audience step by step through the process of building their very first System Dynamics simulation model. Taking the example of tempestuous love relationships, modelling became a fun and engaging activity.
Participants were able to:
- Build their very first quantitative System Dynamics model
- Learn to use Vensim software for very basic quantitative modelling
- Familiarise themselves with the System Dynamics modelling process
- Learn how System Dynamics can be used for policy development.
Dr Zimmermann said:
I was pleased to see such a great interest in the seminar. It was very interactive. People could ask or vote for questions throughout, many of which I answered live, plus, there was lively engagement in the chat that was moderated by partners. 91% of respondents said they achieved a running model. That’s fantastic for such a big group in an online environment."“I was pleased to see such a great interest in the seminar. It was very interactive. The seminar was sponsored by Ventana Systems and hosted by the System Dynamics Society. Members from both organisations also provided additional feedback to the 550+ participants.
