Resulting from a collaboration with academics from Tsinghua University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Carleton University and TU Wien, this paper outlines the state-of-the-art research, current obstacles and future needs and directions for: occupant monitoring and data collection, model development, model evaluation, and model implementation into building simulation tools.

The study highlights the need for greater rigour in experimental methodologies; detailed, honest, and candid reporting of methods and results; and development of efficient tools to integrate occupant behaviour models into building performance simulation applications.  The paper can be found here and details of the award along with the other papers selected here.
