Mike Davies speaks to Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee

IEDE’s Deputy Director Professor Mike Davies spoke in parliament today to the Environmental Audit Committee in the fourth session of their Planetary Health inquiry.
Mike spoke alongside Dr Anastasia Mylona of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers and Professor Yvonne Ryddin of the Bartlett School of Planning. The session focused on cities and how urban planning and building design could solve challenges presented by overheating and climate change.
Mike spoke on the importance of carbon neutral housing stock and retrofitting existing homes to neutralise emissions, citing evidence for the economic, health and wellbeing benefits of improving UK housing. Mike’s research focuses on links between the built environment and wellbeing and he is currently Principal Investigator of the ESPRC funded project TOP (‘The Total Performance of Low Carbon Buildings in China and the UK’).
