Buildings, responsible for over 36% of global energy consumption and around 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, play a crucial role in addressing the challenges of achieving carbon neutrality and mitigating the energy crisis. The role of buildings in the evolving landscape of low-carbon energy systems is becoming increasingly complex. In recent years, the power of machine learning has been showcased and acclaimed as a promising technology set to transform the realm of smart buildings.
In this virtual open day, you can try out the course with a taster lecture from Dr Rui Tang on machine learning in smart buildings. This taster lecture will highlight the emerging requirements for smart building technology amidst the shift towards low-carbon practices and how machine learning can facilitate their development. The lecture will also outline the structure of the module and the support available during the delivery. Following this taster lecture, we will have a Q&A session where you can ask Programme Lead, Dr Valentina Marincioni, about how you can apply learnings from the taster lecture to your studies on the Smart Buildings and Digital Engineering MSc at the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, and also find out about funding and scholarships available to support your studies.
