This project contributes to a broader international research effort coordinated by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) documenting practices in three continents. Despite their limited volume compared with the global flow of remittances, collective remittances from Mexican workers abroad have a significant impact on governance of the small localities where they are channelled. DPU’s research assesses the extent to which migrants based overseas can influence governance and management practices at the local level. Funded by IIED.
