Exploring new partnerships in Asia
15 September 2012
Camillo Boano and William Hunter have just returned from the Philippines where they visited various communities across Manila, Iloilo City and Davao City. Supported by the Homeless People's Federation of the Philippines (HPFPI), the Technical Assistance Movement for People and Environment (TAMPEI) and Philippine Action for Community-led Shelter Initiatives (PACSII), these communities are involved in various upgrading projects and initiatives revolving around challenges of land tenure, community resource building, and environmental hazards.
The visit was intended to break ground further in establishing a lasting partnership between the Philippines Alliance and Community network as part of a larger endeavour with the Asian Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR) and the Community Architects Network (CAN) throughout Southeast Asia. Immediate action in this new collaboration will unfold through a live project to be run in the BUDD Urban Interventions Studio module in October 2012.
