In this panel we aim to focus on planning pedagogies, planning as activism and planning as education in Palestine (including Jerusalem and Area C).

About the Speakers

Dr Rami Nasrallah

Founder and the Chairman at International Peace and Cooperation Center (IPCC)

Dr Rami Nasrallah is the founder and the Chairman of the International Peace and Cooperation Center (IPCC) in East Jerusalem in 1999, a policy and applied research center specializing in zoning, planning and community development. He, himself, was born in East Jerusalem. Dr. Nasarallah received a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the Technology University of Delft in the Netherlands. His recent work includes leading a Palestinian planning team developing “Spatial Development Strategic Framework for Jerusalem Governorate (2030)” published by UNHABITAT, spatial development for Tourism in East Jerusalem, affordable housing models for East Jerusalem and intensive research on the impact of recent Israeli plans in East Jerusalem on Palestinian functionality and political rights. He has held several research fellowships, including at the Cambridge University Institute of Advanced Studies, the Europe Institute at the University of Basel in Switzerland, and the Middle East Institute at the National University of Singapore.

Dr Lana Kudomovic

Associate Professor in architecture at Faculty of Architecture and Design, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University

Dr Lana Kudomovic is an Associate Professor in architecture. She teaches at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University in Istanbul, Turkiye. She holds PhD at Faculty of Architecture at University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her research and teaching focus on issues of preserving the historic built environment. She is working with IPCC (International Peace and Cooperation Center) in Jerusalem since 2015, in particular, she worked on a Sustainable plan for Battir (2015-2018), Tourism in East Jerusalem: Indicators and Implications for Spatial Planning (2020) and Placemaking in East Jerusalem 2017-2020. Recently she is involved with IPCC on a project focusing on The Old City of Jerusalem Communal Resilience and Urban Revitalization.
