WePWEP: Web-based Participatory Wind Energy Planning [2]

This document results from an effort to compile and make available to the wider public information on wind energy developments in the County of Norfolk. It has been prepared in the frame of a PhD research project, which aim is to develop and test a learning-enhancing website to involve the public spatial planning. The application focused is the strategic planning of wind farms location.

This website is named WePWEP - Web-based Participatory Wind Energy Planning and is available at hppt://ernie.ge.ucl.ac.uk:8080/WePWEP/. This information presented here is also available at this website, in a more interactive way. A number of sources have been used in the preparation of this document, namely reports by the local authority's planning officer involved in the assessment of the submitted wind farm planning applications, which have kindly been provided by respective local planning authority. Three main topics are covered in this document:

  • the target for renewable energy production that the East of England region is currently working on;
  • commercial wind energy developments that have been approved in the County of Norfolk so far;
  • commercial wind energy developments proposed for the County of Norfolk but have that have not been approved by respective planning authority.
