Mengdie’s research interests revolve around understanding user engagement with information systems for spatial analysis and data visualisation, and how it shapes the design of techniques for efficient knowledge discovery in this context. Her work draws from a variety of fields such as the human-in-the-loop framework, the theory of cognitive psychology and methods of affective computation. Her current work (i-sense) focuses on analysing and visualizing complex multimodal datasets for identifying outbreaks of infectious disease and introducing fast intervention, with research into dynamic visualization and user-adaptive content. She enjoys learning differential geometry and thinks she should do more.
Mengdie is a Research Fellow at the Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA).
