How will London 2012 affect commuters?

17 July 2012

Keith Grainger at UCL-CASA

CASA researchers have teamed up with the BBC to investigate how the Olympics will affect London commuters.

Thousands of visitors are predicted to use London’s transport network during the Games, with the number of individual journeys potentially rising by a third.

To monitor the impact this could have on regular users, CASA will track four commuters using GPS tracking technology, as they take their journeys to and from work. Each commuter regularly uses a different form of transport – the tube, the bus, a car and a bicycle – representing the main transport methods used in London.

The results of the research will be regularly updated by BBC News and will be available on their dedicated web page (hyperlink to http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18857508).
