CASA

Full-Time PhD Studentship

Duration: 3 years
Stipend: £20,000 + fees
Closing Date for Applications: 30 July 2021
Studentship Start Date: September/October 2021

A fully-funded PhD scholarship is available at the Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA), UCL.

We are open to proposals for PhD level study across any of the subject areas of CASA – from Urban Dynamics through to the Internet of Things. For an overview of our research, see our staff profiles and research projects.

We would be especially interested in topics related to the interest of Dr Joel Dearden, whose memory this new scholarship has been set up to honour.

The studentship is for Home Fees and a stipend for a period of three years, leading to the award of the Doctorate in Advanced Spatial Analysis. We are seeking innovative proposals for PhD level research across the topics of CASA but strongly welcome those that align with Joel’s research interests.

Joel Dearden was a staff member at CASA from 2006-2008, and a doctoral researcher in CASA from 2008 to 2012. His PhD on ‘Using Interactive Data Visualisation to Explore Dynamic Urban Models‘ led to the publication of the book with Sir Alan Wilson entitled, Explorations in Urban and Regional Dynamics: A Case Study in Complexity Science. Over his time in CASA Joel’s research interests covered a range of topics from agent-based models through to spatial interaction.
