CASA Researcher Dave Concannon wins I'm a Scientist Public Engagement Award

21 November 2016

Dave Concannon

CASA Researcher Dave Concannon has won the smart data zone of the "I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here!".

I'm a Scientist is a online event where school students meet and interact with scientists and it. It's a competition where students are the judges and the aim of the competition is to excite school children's interest in STEM subjects.

Students challenge the scientists over online text-based live chats with school classrooms across the country. They ask the scientists anything they want, and vote for their favourite scientist to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public. CASA's own Dr Martin Austwick is a former winner of the prize.

The award will be presented in January 2017 and Dave is planning to spend the prize money on public engagement in South Africa where most of his work is based.

Well done Dave!
