This workshop, hosted by CASA, aims at bringing together specialists in urban modelling and complexity science, to review the state of the art of the methodological tools being advanced for understanding processes in urban systems and developing designs and plans for city systems.
Policy makers have also been invited, in order to foster discussions on bridging these tools, towards informed infrastructural development and governance. The methods covered will range from spatial interaction models, agent-based modelling, networks and other tools from complexity science, to geodesign, planning support systems and platforms designed to inform stakeholders among others. The specific topics of application will not be constrained, and we expect contributions within transport, housing, urban planning, economic activity, mobility, human behaviour, and governance to name a few. This is encompassed under the umbrella of a project funded by the MacArthur Foundation, looking at Urban Informatics and the Smart City.
The workshop is free and informal; we will announce the program shortly. All welcome.
