Research at The Bartlett School of Architecture extends the boundaries of our current knowledge, and designs our world of the future.
Our cross-disciplinary approach intertwines methodologies and expands architectural research to reach other fields in the arts and humanities, social and environmental sciences, and technology, in collaboration with partners from across UCL, practice and industry, and other UK institutions.
Our research addresses themes and challenges essential to understanding our changing built environment and building the future:
- Interdisciplinary Design Practice
- Sustainable Urbanism and Landscape
- Building for Wellbeing
- Computation and Craft Technologies
- Histories and Theories of Architecture
In the UK’s latest Research Excellence Framework exercise (REF2014), Bartlett research staff achieved the greatest proportion of 4* ratings overall of any faculty in the built environment field.
