Derwent London Scholarship to launch at The Bartlett School of Architecture
10 October 2019
Committed to reducing the barriers to a UCL education, Derwent London will award a four-year scholarship to an exceptional Architecture MSci student in 2020.
The Bartlett is pleased to announce that Derwent London will generously fund a scholar studying the school’s new Architecture MSci programme, enrolling in 2020.
The Derwent London Scholarship provides full support for tuition fees and estimated living costs for the first four years of study of the five-year programme, the final year of which is undertaken in practice. To be eligible to apply, students must have been accepted by the school to study Architecture MSci, be domiciled in the UK and be able to demonstrate financial need.
Derwent London is one of the capital’s most innovative office specialist property regenerators and is known for its design-led philosophy and working collaboratively with some of the UK’s most inspiring architects. The Bartlett School of Architecture is proud to welcome the Group into its family of close supporters and partners who share our commitment to breaking down the barriers to education and promoting good design.
Commenting on the new scholarship, Derwent London Director, Simon Silver said:
“We are proud to be supporting an exceptional student to study this unique programme at The Bartlett, combining both undergraduate and postgraduate architecture. The financial burden of studying architecture can be overwhelming for students, and we want to play a part in ensuring the brightest students can be found to design our future environments.
Professor Bob Sheil, Director of The Bartlett School of Architecture commented: "This generous scholarship from Derwent London is a great opportunity for both the scholar and school, as we launch our alternative route to registration as an architect."
UCL’s ambition is to ensure that the world’s best and brightest minds can access higher education, whatever their background or financial standing. Students are a priority project for the It’s All Academic Campaign – UCL’s biggest philanthropic drive aiming to raise £600 million for far-reaching student support and world-changing research. The Derwent London Scholarship establishes one more vital award for our students funded from the campaign.
