The Bartlett is Global Number 1 in the 2019 QS World Rankings

27 February 2019

The Bartlett has been ranked the top institution in the world for Architecture/Built Environment subjects.

QS World Rankings 2019

Scoring 98/100 overall, with 100 for academic reputation and 92.7 for employer reputation, The Bartlett has overtaken MIT for the prestigious top position for the first time in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019.

The win comes at an exciting moment in the school and faculty’s history, as we celebrate our faculty’s centenary, the successful launch of four pioneering architecture Master’s programmes at UCL at Here East and the launch of Landscape Architecture MA//MLA in Bloomsbury.

Reacting to the news, Professor Bob Sheil, Director of The Bartlett School of Architecture said:

This is a prestigious recognition for the creative and inspiring work of colleagues across the faculty and the school, not only in research but also in teaching and the professional services. It’s also a timely and significant result for our Dean, Professor Alan Penn, as he prepares to step down following a decade of unprecedented transformation for our faculty, setting us up for an exciting future.

About the QS World Rankings by Subject

Published annually, the QS World University Rankings cover 48 subjects by collecting opinions from thousands of academics and employers. They analyse millions of research papers and citations over a five-year period to measure the impact of publications from institutions, as well as their productivity.

Success across UCL

Aside from The Bartlett’s number one spot, other UCL highlights include the Institute of Education retaining the number one spot for Education and UCL ranking third and fifth for Archaeology and Anthropology respectively.
