About

This Modern Empire explores the role of empire and colonialism in various everyday objects and concepts found within a constructed British dining room setting.

The exhibition was constructed by students from our Architectural & Interdisciplinary Studies programme, who are interested in questioning structures of power within familiar and everyday settings.

Exhibition launch

18:30 – 21:30, 21 March
Join the students for the launch of their exhibition This Modern Empire. The evening will include drinks, speeches and short film screenings.

Lunchtime debate

12:30 – 14:00, 22 March
This debate will explore the relationship between power, trade and colonialism in the everyday objects and concepts of the British dining room.
An afternoon tea will follow from 15:30.
