Inclusive Advocacy Team

Inclusive advocacy is a sponsorship programme that aims to highlight the underrepresentation of Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff at senior leadership level at UCL.

Part of our objectives for this academic year is to ensure that we have a rich pool of advocates and proteges to guarantee that all our participants are matched in the required time and all have the opportunity to be successful in their partnerships.

We are now accepting applications for advocates who are senior staff at grades 9 and 10 of any ethnicity who will be matched to a protege who are Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff at grades 7 and 8. Although we are currently accepting applications, please note that the scheme will not become active until the new academic year after processing applications from advocates and proteges.

The training is expected to take place in November 2023 and the active sponsorship will ideally start after that, so please keep this in mind with regards to your availability and workload around that time. We welcome all interested would-be advocates to apply via MentorNet. The application is open on a rolling basis for the duration of the academic year (2023/24). We will start accepting applications from potential proteges in October 2023.

Our website can provide more information on the scheme and we can also visit your faculty/department to give a presentation followed by a Q&A, alternatively we will be holding a similar session in September that you can attend.
