The largest gathering of archaeological scientists will be next be hosted by the Getty Conservation Institute and UCLA in Los Angeles. It promises a packed program which will most certainly include a large section on metallurgy and related pyrotechnologies.
This biennial conference will draw from interdisciplinary research in various fields of engineering, archaeology, and the natural sciences, to present the latest results and developments in archaeological sciences. The ISA aims to bring together archaeological scientists with museum professionals, conservation scientists, natural sciencties, together with industry professionals and other interested groups to address current and global challenges in archaeology and cultural property. The topics to be addressed at the symposium will range from looting and illicit trafficking of antiquities to the archaeology of transitional periods.
Registration is now open and early booking prices are available until the 18th of February 2014. Abstracts must be submitted by the 16th of December 2013.
