I have a research interest in the treatment and prevention of transmission of hospital-acquired infection. I have run trials on the antibiotics teicoplanin and linezolid as well as on innovations in the control of infection. I helped design an infection resistant computer keyboard now used at UCLH. Specific examples of current projects include:
Changing behaviour
- Automatic contact monitoring to increase hand hygiene and reduce transmission of resistant pathogen.
Changing environment
- Differences between different surfaces on beds in colonisation by pathogens.
- Effect of enhanced cleaning on the number of organisms on the hands of doctors and nurses
