Chiral molecules in chiral electric fields

Sergey-Yurchenko

Sergey Yurchenko (s.yurchenko@ucl.ac.uk)

The orientation and alignment of molecules have long been of interest in chemistry and physics. Applications of the molecular optical control range from chemical reactivity to attosecond molecular dynamics. We apply accurate theoretical methods to control internal and angular degrees of freedom of polyatomic molecules by strong laser pulses. The project will mainly focus on the following research topics: (i) laser cooling, (ii) rotational coherence and induced chiralty in extreme rotational states, (iii) laser control of tunneling in non-rigid molecules with application to chiral molecular systems. An example of the research can be found in PRL 117, 033001 (2016).
