The MSc Urban Studies, administered through UCL Geography, brings together urban teaching and learning across four UCL faculties (Arts and Humanities; the Bartlett School of the Built Environment; Engineering Sciences; and Social and Historical Sciences). A distinctive feature of this MSc is the focus on the interface between theory and practice across a diverse range of topics from historic patterns of urban change to current developments in urban design and the visual arts.
In term 1 (September-December) students are introduced to many of the key debates that have shaped thinking on modern cities and learn basic methodological skills necessary for the dissertation.
In term 2 (January-April) students have the opportunity to pursue your own specific interests in the urban field in greater detail, leading towards an independent research project to be completed during the summer.
