Inaugurual Y-NET Symposium

The inaugurual Y-NET Symposium - the Young Researchers Neuronal Epigenetics and Transcription Symposium - was held on 1st October 2021 and was judged by all to be a great success! Y-NET was attended by 179 participants from 71 different institutes distributed in 26 countries world-wide, and all with no technical glitches!

The work presented was fascinating, encompassing the full range of themes within epigenetics - from RNA transcription, translation and transport, to genome architecture, chromatin remodelling, histone variants and enhancer function. These topics were described in a myriad of neuronal systems: development, injury and regeneration, memory and addiction, aging and degeneration. In the process, attendees also heard about many exciting new techniques.

The organisers' aim was to promote the science of early career researchers, and the excellent talks presented by the 11 early career speakers very much fulfilled this goal. Moreover, the organisers wished for Y-NET to be a networking opportunity for young researchers. Noteably, 70% of the attendees were PhD students and postdocs, thus fullfulling the symposium's goal. The organisers hope that the attendees will feel free to use the contacts provided and take the opportunity of contacting the speakers and establishing new collaborations.

The organisers would like to thank all those who participated in Y-NET, both the wonderful speakers and all those who joined the symposium. They hope that this may become a repeated event – please get in touch if you are keen to be involved in organising Y-NET 2022.

Hoping to meet you all in person soon!
