Dr Amy Stanton

Following her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Sussex, Amy completed a Masters in Counselling Psychology at City University London. This involved work with vulnerable children in Inner City schools and The Place To Be. At this time, Amy also became a Deputy Director of Training at the Samaritans where she supported people with suicidal ideation and intent and trained new Samaritans. Amy wrote her Masters research about emerging adulthood and the fragility of mental health for young adults age 16-25. Following graduation, Amy managed one of the children’s department at a specialist Women’s Project in London which protects women and children fleeing domestic violence and abuse. Her work involved supporting the rehabilitation of children, teenagers and young adult survivors.

Amy began her Doctorate in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology at UCL Institute of Education and completed this in 2016. She wrote her thesis on the role of school for child survivors of domestic violence and abuse. She is writing a paper for submission to the British Journal of Psychology.

Amy works in London Borough of Camden. She is located at mainstream settings and Swiss Cottage School, Development and Research Centre. This year, Amy will also co-deliver: Camden’s ELSA Programme, work in The Critical Incident Team and support the transfer of cognitive assessment to web based technology. Current additional research interests include: Mental Health and Trauma, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Video Interactive Guidance (VIG) and Dynamic Assessment.
