Meet the Team

Working together with UCL central services, the team manages all aspects of incoming student mobility at UCL Economics and consists of two Programme Administrators and an Affiliate Tutor.

The Programme Administrators act as a primary point of contact for perspective and current students. They oversee all teaching and learning elements of the programme including student induction, module registration, admissions, student support and exams.

The Affiliate Tutor offers academic expertise such as assessing student’s suitability for the programme or a specific module, support and guidance where a student is struggling and advice on choosing disciplines in line with career plans. Students are introduced to Affiliate Tutor at the beginning of Term.

Feel free to contact the team at economics.affiliates@ucl.ac.uk.

Karina Omelianenko

Karina Omelianenko
Karina joined the Department of Economics in 2020 and works with incoming and outgoing study abroad students. She believes such programmes provide a unique opportunity not only to improve academic skills, but also to broaden horizons and make the most of your time at university.

While completing a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Karina participated in study abroad programmes in Norway, Austria and the Czech Republic. This shaped her interest in student exchange programmes, and she has been promoting these opportunities among students since then.

In her spare time Karina enjoys everything London has to offer, makes the most of the great British outdoors and is always up for a last-minute trip to the theatre.

Rebecca Burns

Rebecca Burns
Rebecca has been working on the affiliate programme in Economics since time began and enjoys the excitement of each new cohort as students arrive at UCL to have the time of their lives.

Having studied both at UCL and in the US herself she understands the implications of being a student in London and abroad; and that embracing the differences between the two will shape students’ study abroad experiences more positively. She hopes you will be one of those!

Rebecca has played tennis for over 40 years and can be seen here in her spiritual home of Wimbledon’s Centre Court.
