The Department of Economics is truly international in both its outlook and in its membership, with students and staff from over 40 countries. The variety of backgrounds, experience, ages and nationalities, as well as the vast array of resources and facilities at UCL and throughout London, ensures a rewarding, stimulating and varied student experience.

With over 90 research students, from over 25 different countries we are one of the largest, and most diverse Departments in the country. The Department of Economics has a long and distinguished tradition of top-quality research by its students who work alongside our academic members of staff continuing and shaping that tradition.

The Department also hosts visiting scholars from across the world; recent visitors hailing from USA, Norway and Austria. These academics visit the Department to pursue their research, either individually or in collaboration with members of staff of UCL in related fields of interest, while being able to make use of the Department’s facilities and specialist expertise.
