INSTG052 Records Management and Information Policy Compliance

This module aims to introduce students to the field of information policy compliance and show how records management can play a key role in enabling organizations, in both the public and private sectors, to behave in a transparent and accountable manner.

By the end of the module, students will be able to:
• Identify and broadly interpret key national and international standards and frameworks for records management
• Identify and broadly interpret key pieces of national and international information policy legislation and frameworks for compliance
• Within at least one national jurisdiction, understand the information policy legislation and compliance regime
• Within at least one national jurisdiction or business sector, understand the role of records management in enabling organisations to meet their compliance requirements
• Understand the interaction between the development of archives/records legislation and information policy legislation

Learning will be by lectures and seminars. The module is taught in Term 2.

Assessment: the module is assessed by one piece of coursework worth 15 credits.
