INSTG020 Management
This module introduces general management principles and their relevance to all aspects of library, archive and information sector practice. The importance of analytical, personal and transferable management skills and competencies to meet the demands of a changing professional environment is considered. Teaching and learning is delivered via a mixture of lectures, practical exercises, group projects and presentations.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the module, students will be able to
- discuss the purpose and activities of management and key transferable skills for library and information professionals
- describe ethical, social and legal responsibilities
- demonstrate an understanding of change management issues
- plan and prioritise budget expenditure and resources
- identify human resource management issues
Assessment: Assessment by coursework only
Compulsory for: MA Library and Information Studies
