UCL-UCU: Meeting Tomorrow 1pm & How to Support Strike Days

As you will know, we are on all-out Strike on 24, 25, and 30 November. 

We need all our members to show support not only by striking but just as importantly by participating in these days of action if we are to show the employers that HE staff are serious. It is only by showing mass resolve and participation that we can convince employers we are serious and that we are capable of delivering on the threats of boycotts and further action in the new year. So, please come and give your support by standing with your colleagues, even if only for a short shift. The bigger the pickets the shorter the strike!

It is time for us to link together with your colleagues in solidarity and action. Please join in! Ways to take part:

1. If you have a Departmental Representative, please contact them to see if there is a picket at your building/department (List of Departmental Reps and locations)

2. If you do not have a Departmental Representative you can either:

• Set up a picket line with your colleagues (if you are willing to act as a point of contact or need support please contact ucu@ucl.ac.uk), or
• Come to one of the three main picket lines to increase numbers

1. Attend the 4 main picket lines: 

• Gower Street main entrance gates
• Student Centre entrance arch on Gordon Street
• Malet Street entrance gates
• Institute of Education Concourse

4. Attend the end-of-day Picket Gathering and photo-op at the Gower Street Main Gates, 11.15-11.45am on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th November. On Friday, there will be visits from other trade unions and nearby workplaces, including UCLH/RCN, RMT, CWU, and IWGB, who will join our end-of-picket rally at 12pm, just before the Strike Meeting.

5. Come to our Strike Meetings afterwards at the Building Centre on Store Street each day this week (12pm on the 24th and 12.30 on the 25th).

6. Join the national UCU demonstration on Wednesday 30th November at 13.00 at Kings Cross. We will all be leaving from the Gower Street Main Gate to get there.
