On 13th June, UCL-TB was honoured to host visitors from the Republic of Korea at UCL's historic main campus building.  UCL-TB and the Korean delegates were joined by representatives of Public Health England.

The delegation, who had made the journey from and on behalf of the health administration division of Gyeongsangbuk-Do region (the largest province in South Korea), had travelled to the UK for a series of meetings.  Their aim was to examine the direction of tuberculosis elimination policies, discover the latest data on TB diagnosis and epidemiology, and conduct a comparative review of various cases in UK to ultimately pursue the elimination of the disease.  Following the visit, the delegation will review their findings, potentially implementing some appropriate UK practices and policies in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

During the meeting, representatives from UCL-TB and PHE discussed TB epidemiology, management and strategies to sustain the reduction in TB that is now being seen in both the UK and Korea.  Key research from UCL relevant to Korea was highlighted including the Predict study, VOT study and cohort review
