TB Alliance calls for TB to be added to WHO critical list

The TB Alliance has called on the World Health Organisation to add Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the critical group of its recently-published list of drug-resistant bacteria.
The TB Alliance issued a statement on 28th February questioning TB's "shocking" absence from the list of priority pathogens. In response, WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to promoting research and development of new anti-TB drugs. "Addressing drug-resistant TB research is a top priority for WHO and for the world", said Dr Chan.
