What to do if you are leaving UCL
Members of staff leaving UCL should follow the steps outlined here to ensure a smooth exit.
- 1. Notify your line manager
-
Email your resignation (if resigning) to your line manager, giving the appropriate notice and confirming your planned last day of service.
- 2. Discuss what to do with any outstanding Annual Leave
-
Agree with your line manager how any outstanding leave entitlement will be dealt with. For example; it could be taken before your leaving date or paid in lieu with your final salary payment. There is further information available on calculating leave entitlement.
- 3. Check your personal details in MyHR Self Service
-
Check, and if necessary, update your home and personal email address details on MyHR Self Service, to ensure your P45 & pension benefit statement is sent to the correct address.
- 4. Enquire about lease or loan repayments
-
If you are receiving any loans, leases or hire agreements through UCL you need to understand how these will be dealt with and/or paid back.
- 5. Complete online exit survey
-
Complete the online exit survey and consider having an exit interview with your line manager.
- 6. Make arrangements for your last working day
-
On your last working day you should:
- Set up an out of office informing you have left and detailing an alternate contact;
- Save any important emails to an appropriately secure network folder accessible to leaver's line manager;
- ensure that any of your own personal data and documents are removed from any laptops, PCs or devices such as tablets and mobile phones;
- Return any UCL property, keys, codes and equipment.
