Membership fee

The annual subscription (from 1st October to 30th September every year) is currently £35. Pro-rata payments are not possible.

Joining instructions for current staff on Payroll (from Monday 28th July 2025)

You can join the ASCR quickly and easily by accessing myHr:

1.    Click on the Navigator in the top left corner of the screen
2.    Scroll down and click on UCL Employee Self Service
3.    Click on My Benefits
4.    Click on ASCR (staff common room)
5.    Click Create Request
6.    In the Type field select UCL Staff Common Room
7.    Click Apply in the top right corner of the screen
8.    Click Next and then finally, don't forget to click Submit

The above process will set up an automatic deduction of the subscription (currently £35) from your salary in the next available payrun, and each October thereafter until you decide to cancel your membership. If you join in July, August or September the next available payrun will be October.
You will receive an email in myHR (click on the bell icon at the top of the page to view the email) to confirm your membership, along with information about the ASCR. Your ID card will be activated overnight to open the Housman Room door, and you can use it from 8am the next working day.

Cancelling your automatic annual Payroll deduction

ASCR members who have paid via Payroll can cancel their membership by following the myHR steps 1-4 above. Then follow the instructions in the first TIP - and remember to click "Next" and then "Submit". This will stop all future automatic subscription deductions, and your membership will end on the 30th September. If you prefer to end your membership immediately, enter the current date. Please note that refunds are not possible.

You can apply by following the above instructions, but your application will be forwarded to the ASCR Manager for approval.
