Peter Sherwood’s translation shortlisted for EBRD Literature Prize 2022

Congratulations to Peter Sherwood, whose translation of 'Birds of Verhovina' by Adam Bodor (Jantar Publishing) got shortlisted for EBRD Literature Prize 2022.

Birds of Verhovina

The EBRD Literature Prize champions the literary richness of almost 40 countries stretching from Morocco to Mongolia, Estonia to Egypt. The Prize also aims to illustrate the importance of literary translation and to introduce the depth and variety of the voices and creativity from these regions to the English-speaking public and a wider global audience.

We are very pleased to learn that the EBRD Literature Prize 2022 selected shortlist includes Birds of Verhovina by Adam Bodor, translated from Hungarian by SSEES Honorary Senior Research Associate, Peter Sherwood. This book was published by Jantar Publishing.

Jantar Publishing, co-founded by SSEES alumnus Mike Tate, is an independent publisher of European Literary Fiction and Poetry based in London. They also have another book shortlisted,‘City of Torment’ by Daniela Hodrova, translated from Czech by Veronique Firkusny and Elena Sokol. Congratulations!
