Learn Entrepreneur skills as a researcher!
This one-day online workshop will focus on the fundamentals of developing an entrepreneaurial mindset. It will help you heighten the impact of your research and think about the value that you are creating with/for existing and potential collaborators. Even if you don't have entrepreneurial ambitions, this workshop will help you frame the skills that you are developing so that you can apply them to widen the impact of your research and identify the support available at UCL.
WHEN: Wednesday 21st October, 10:00- 16:00 Workshop (including breaks throughout)
WHERE: Online. A link to the meeting space will be shared with registered participants before the workshop.
What to expect:
The one-day interactive workshop will be very practical, with a number of reflective and interactive activities.
It will help you:
- Start to recognise and use your enterprise skills;
- develop your own entrepeneurial thinking; and
- generate and develop enterprising ideas using tools such as the business model canvas
By the end of the online workshop, you'll be better able to:
- develop ideas that create value and make a difference to others;
- identify the relationships needed with relevent stakeholders to move an idea forward more smoothly; and
- set goals to progress your enterprising activity.
Who should attend?
This workshop is aimed at researchers at UCL who would like to know more about how to make their research more translational and how to use entrepreneurial skills to do so. You don't need any prior business experience to attend. You don't need to be an aspiring entrepreneur or already have a translational research or business idea. Please note you must sign up with a UCL email address, this is essential in order to give you access to certain software.
About the facilitator
Mario Moustras, CEO and Founder of Mazamo Coaching, is a talent development coach and facilitator who works with researchers and entrepreneurs. Before becoming a coach and trainer, he worked for the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). He has a PhD in Chemistry, and is a chartered scientist and Fellow of the RSC.
Mario has worked with scientists and engineers across government agencies, industry and universities. He has led teams through science-related programmes in higher education, enterprise partnerships (especially with small companies) and technology policy.
