Learn how to find the story of your research idea and how to confidently share it with potential collaborators or with those who might be able to help fund it. This 2-hour online session will cover how to develop the perfect pitch and confidently answering questions.

When: Weds 24th February 2021, 10:00-12:00.

Where: Online - a link to the meeting space will be shared with registered participants before the session.

Who should attend? This workshop is aimed at researchers at UCL.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to;

  • Define and apply the elements of an impactful pitch
  • Explain and implement techniques for concisely answering questions under pressure

About the Facilitator

Simon Cain, Director of Westbourne Training and Consulting, is an accomplished training consultant, specialising in presentations skills and public speaking. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and was responsible for winning the UK’s first Supreme Training Award. He has been responsible for delivering a range of presentation and public speaking courses and one-on-one coaching to a wide range of private and public sector clients.

What is ACCELERATE?

ACCELERATE is a set of interlinked training initiatives and resources aimed at upskilling the biomedical research community in translational research. ACCELERATE Success focuses on skills development for success in translational research. ‘What’s the Big Idea – Pitching Skills’ is an ACCELERATE Success initiative.
