The Dean's Prize supports overseas fee-paying students who have won a competitive scholarship to cover their stipend, by waiving the international fees.
The Dean’s Prize is available only to students wishing to pursue research degrees in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences or the Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Sciences.
Applications for the Dean's Prize must include the following information:
For Mathematical & Physical Sciences (MAPS) students*
Short (1 page maximum) description of the proposed research project
CV of the candidate
Written confirmation by the relevant Head of Department that they support the submission and agree to the shortfall in their budget due to the waiver of fees
2 References – Reference number 1 should relate to your most recently completed university programme/degree (or the one you intend to complete, if applicable) and can be the same referee who submitted a reference as part of your admission application. Please use this
. Reference number 2 should relate to your current or intended research programme/project, for which you are seeking funding. This reference MUST be provided by your research supervisor at UCL. If you are a prospective student and your supervisor has not yet been allocated, please contact your department to confirm who your UCL supervisor will be. Please use this .If your department is submitting more than one application, applications must be ranked in order of preference by Departmental Graduate Tutors before submission.

Applicants must submit their application as a single PDF containing the following documents in order:
- CV
- A reference from an academic at your current or most recent university, which must be on this form:
- A letter of support from your prospective supervisor at UCL
- A lay summary of your research proposal (maximum 200 words, written by you, not your supervisor)
- Any other documents such as evidence of associated scholarships/bursaries etc.
