Publications:

The published texts available here include two papers in Journal of Consciousness Studies and an account of the theory for a general audience in book form. The scope of the theory has extended considerably over the last ten years and certain details of interpretation of the physics have changed. However, there are relatively few changes in the central ideas. My use of certain terms like knowledge and information has changed recently, particularly in the online material available under separate headings.

As far as I am aware the idea of experience being only a property of individual neurons, and not of a larger network or brain, was reached independently by Steven Sevush and myself in 2001. Sevush published the idea in abstract form at a Towards a Science of Consciousness meeting in 2002. The first formal peer reviewed publication was in 2005 (listed here). Sevush published formally shortly after in the Journal of Theoretical Biology (Single Neuron Theory of Consciousness).
