The popular UCL Research Programming Technical Socials are now expanding, under the “Knowledge Quarter Codes” name, to welcome participation from academic and industrial organisations across the Knowledge Quarter and build a shared community of practice. The Knowledge Quarter is the area within a 1-mile radius of King’s Cross station, and hosts what is arguably the most dense concentration of scientific and knowledge-based organisations anywhere in the world.
These informal events are for anyone with an interest in the computational methods and technology behind research and innovation. They are an opportunity to get to know fellow practitioners, and to discuss and learn about useful tools and techniques which may help with your work. All are welcome, whatever your background or career stage!
The events are held monthly, usually 17.00-18.30, with a format as follows:
- Short talk on a tool, program, environment, language or technique of general interest to researchers, research software engineers and data scientists.
- Discussion inspired by the talk, over pizza and drinks.
- Optionally retire to an appropriate social venue.
