Overview
In May 2023 UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) announced new harmonised staff role types for UKRI-funded projects to coincide with the roll out of its new Funding Service system (TFS), which is due to replace the Joint Electronic Submissions (Je-S) system in 2024.
In changing role types, UKRI has also made changes to the roles which can attract estates and indirect costs to reflect the contribution all roles make to research projects. UCL is therefore able to recover more overheads at a project level for some staff roles on future awards, provided there is no double charging.
This guidance supports the appropriate costing of UKRI-funded projects according to UKRI TFS roles using the TRAC process in Worktribe while avoiding impact on TRAC returns and double counting staff resources
