Low-risk research ethics reviewers play a vital role in supporting high quality trusted research. Find out how to become a low-risk research ethics reviewer and how to apply.


This training is aimed at colleagues who are reviewing low-risk research ethics applications or supporting research ethics review.  

Design and delivery

The sessions are designed and delivered by Research Ethics Service members with experience in supporting research ethics review.

  • Research ethics at UCL and introduction to the Research Ethics Service 
  • Routes for research ethics review 
  • Understanding risk
  • The review process
  • Reviewing low risk applications (Key ethics principles, Application structure and supporting documents, Top tips)
  • Next steps and questions 

We will also provide training slides and some additional guidance documents.
