UCL Research Ethics

Committees and governance

The UCL Research Ethics Committee (UCL REC) is the central REC at UCL, reviewing the majority of application for ethical approval, including all high risk applications.

The Institute of Education has a separate faculty REC (IOE REC), reviewing all applications for ethical approval from staff and students within the IOE not classed as highest risk.

In addition, there are several departmental RECs within the Social and Historical Sciences, Arts and Humanities, the Bartlett and Engineering, to which you may also have to apply to.  You are advised therefore to check with your local ethics lead regarding any additional local arrangements.
