Workshop
This PowerPoint presentation is from the three hour “Train-the Trainers” workshop led by Penny in 2014, within the framework of the START Dissemination project funded by the Alzheimer’s Society (2014-2015). This was for trained Clinical Psychologists to train and supervise other members of staff to deliver the START intervention locally.
Delivery Materials
Once qualified psychologists and Admiral Nurses had attended the START training workshop, they went back to their local services to train and supervise junior staff in delivering the START intervention using the following materials
Session 1: Understanding dementia
This training session provides an overview of dementia and what interventions there are for people with dementia and their families.
Session 2: Psychological interventions with caregivers of people with dementia
This training session provides an overview of the existing evidence base for psychological interventions with carers of people with dementia.
Session 3: Putting the manual into practice: Session 1-4
This training covers sessions 5-8 of the START manual and time to practice delivering the intervention.
Session 4: Putting the manual into practice: Session 5-8
This training covers sessions 5-8 of the START manual and time to practice delivering the intervention and consider any challenges.
