Describe the UCL Summer School in three words: Best summer experience

Why did you choose the UCL Summer School?

It has always been my ambition to study in the vibrant city of London, and being part of the UCL Summer School programme made that dream a reality. UCL is renowned for its academic excellence and carefully curated courses, and it provided me with a more holistic view of the world of education.

It was a rewarding experience to be immersed in the unique allure of a campus nestled in the iconic cityscape while seizing the opportunity to enroll in a programme that will help me further my academic pursuits.

Tell us a bit about the module you took – what have been the highlights?

I enrolled in the Cybersecurity Risk Management module. I've always had a strong interest in computer sciences and cybersecurity, and I was confident that the module would help me learn more about these areas.

One of the notable features of this experience was the chance to meet with experts in the industry. Aside from that, the hands-on activities like doing risk assessments and delivering presentations helped me improve my comprehension and grasp of the subject.

What was your favourite thing about London and why?

London is one of the best cities I've had the opportunity to explore and experience. Everything about it is simply enticing, including its magnificent architecture, interesting cultural tapestry, exceptional culinary offerings, and the warmth shown by its residents to foreigners like me. What left an impression on me is the fact that there will always be something new in the place. The city's museums, shops, parks, galleries, restaurants, and social spots provided me with a beautiful experience and a sense of limitless discovery. My time in London will remain a rewarding journey that I will keep close to my heart.

Where is your favourite spot on the UCL Campus and why?

It may seem somewhat ordinary, but my favorite place to study was the Main Library. The place has a soothing vibe, which helped me study effectively. The aesthetic and design of the building are not only enchanting, but they also make the place a conducive space for academic pursuits. It was the best location to complete my assessments, and I was grateful to be able to experience such a beautiful place.

What advice would you give to any students looking to apply next year?

My experience at UCL was one of the most enriching and productive summers of my life. I was anxious at first about going there by myself, but the journey was well worth the effort and courage. My advice for those considering applying to the programme next year is to just do it. It will undoubtedly be one of your unforgettable seasons, which will help you grow - not only academically, but also emotionally and spiritually. Wonderful experiences, valuable lessons, and diverse encounters await your journey there.
